I have had an 8" with 4.11 gears and a mini spool under the Gremlin for the past 7 years and has worked fine....putting 280+HP to the rear wheels with a 360....it now has a 401 with over 300HP to the rear wheels in front of it and continues to motor along.......I do have an auto and I do not hit it hard like a 4spd would.. It went thru three owners while I knew of it. 302 4 speed, bracket raced in the 13's. Even had some slicks on it for a bit. The only 8" failure I can remember was a spider pin wearing a slot in the carrier on one car and it was my friends dads station wagon!!! > > > -- > Mark Price > Morgantown, WV > 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 > " I was different before people dared to be different" > > -------------- Original message ---------------------- > From: "Jim Blair" <carnuck@xxxxxxxxxxx> > >> A: The 8" that I had in my '66 Fairlane (289 3 speed) was 3.55 posi.
