I know we abused the snot of them and never broke any that I recall. In fact now that I think about it the group I ran with as a whole broke more 9's than 8"s!!! The one little Mavericak grabber had an 8" with factory posi and aftermarket 4:57 gears and it just plain ran hard. It went thru three owners while I knew of it. 302 4 speed, bracket raced in the 13's. Even had some slicks on it for a bit. I do not ever recall any breakage. In the 9"s I saw everyting from shattered spiders to cracked posi cases to broken pinions. All on street cars on street tires. The only 8" failure I can remember was a spider pin wearing a slot in the carrier on one car and it was my friends dads station wagon!!! -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 " I was different before people dared to be different" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Jim Blair" <carnuck@xxxxxxxxxxx> > A: The 8" that I had in my '66 Fairlane (289 3 speed) was 3.55 posi.
