Todd, This is common if the rockers are not removed or installed in a proper fashion. With the rotation of the cam, if one valve is in the closed position while the other matched bridged valve is fully open, you need to do one of two things to keep from breaking the bridge. Either spin the engine over until they are both closed during the compression stroke (this is the ideal way) or slowly back each out evenly a little bit at a time. Fully tightening or loosening one at a time in this scenario will put all the spring pressure of the open valve side on the bridge at an abnormal angle causing it to break (only cast aluminum in most cases). He's removed the bolts for several of the rockers, and several of the bridges have snapped. From his description they broke while he was removing the bolts. Is this a common failure point?
