Re: [AMC-List] American project updates/ 3 questions

There was something smaller! When my dad and I swapped the 71 258 and 69 trans iin my 65 440 hardtop he took a NOS converter off the dealerships shelf they had no use for and we put it together. When we tryed to start it the starter whirred and did not engage the flywheel! I was mad! My dad was like, oh well, I'll pull the trans and use another converter. Once it was out it was evident that the ring on the first converter was smaller than the 232 one we had taken out was. we used the converter that came from the 69 trans in the end as our stock 65 trans had 216,000 miles on it!
IIRC dad looked up the NOS converter and it was from an early 60's application with a 196, but that was over 25 years ago so don't quote me on it!
