Shock position &transmission

the shock position on my 1972&1976 is the left is in front of the axle the
right is behind the axle.

I got the 904 back in the 1976 (it is rebuilt) and I drove the car for the
first time! the 258 runs pretty decent! now I need to do body work than it
will be pretty well finished. but I am working on the 1972 first!
