Hi. My name is Terry and I am a 50 year old male from Louisville, Ky. A little about my Gremlin. It is a 78 red one with roughly 70,000 miles on it. It has a 232 six with A/T and air. It has been in the family since 1980. Actually it was the second one purchased. I bought a 77 in 80. It was tan. My mother liked it so much she purchased hers about a month later. Sorry to say I wasn't much of an AMC person back then. I did keep it for about 2 years and traded it for my one and only new car and probably the worse junk I ever owned. My mother kept hers and when she finally did buy her a new car and lucky for me she didn't have the heart to trade it in. After about two years of sitting and rusting in her back yard she announced she was going to give it to the Salvation Army. I took my boys over to give it one last look and they fell in love with it and talked me into fixing it up. So after a couple of cans of rubbing compound, some bondo around the doors and rear fenders, a new fuel filter and knocking the wasp nest out of the front fender we got the little Gremlin on the road again. I still didn't think a lot about the car except that it was something to play around with. Then one Saturday I saw in the paper where there was a car show at a parts store near where I lived. Needing a few things for my van I took the Gremlin to the store. I parked her away from where the show cars were and went inside to get the parts. When I came out I was quite surpised. Two street rods were parked on either side of her and people were actually looking at her. Actually the boys said people were looking at her I thought they were crazy until I got close and found out they really were. That started her new life. She is now used almost exclusively for trips to car shows. From almost being given away to being a show car in less than a year was a big trip for the little car. Sorry for a long letter will write more about my Gremio later. Terry Oh yes she could really use a new rear bumper if anyone has one.
