Re: [gremlintime] Engines... A*M*C, OF COURSE!!!!!

THERE WAS NO CORRECT INFO GIVEN IN THE FOLLOWING POST
AND i TRIED TO ADDRESS AS MANY AS POSSIBLE
Ken,
the 360 that Chrysler made is the same one they use now in the Jeeps and
such, as long as it isnt the truck block it will fit in your Gremmie,
CHRYSLER 360 ONLY FIT CHRYSLER NOT AMC
frot shocks and springs will need to be a heavier type bacause of the weight
difference between the 6 and 8 cylinder engines.
SPRINGS ARE RATED STIFFER FROM 6-8 WITH A/C SPRINGS BEING STIFFER
WHAT LOOK YOU WANT IU RUN6CYL A/C IN MY 401 GREM
if you want a good 360 look in an older Jeep cherokee about 1974-79
it had the ford intake and chrysler exhaust on it and is still a powerful
engine
THERE IS NOTHING CORRECT HERE EXCEPT IT BEING POWERFUL
, the 401 is basically a Chevy 400 punched out to a 401 and because of this
is a weaker block.
WHAT!! HOW DID THEY GET THAT DIST TO FIT AND WHY NOT PUT
AMC HEADS ON CHEVY MOTORS IF THEY ARE THE SAME SINCE THEY FLOW BETTER
the T-10 will fit the standard rear end as long as the splines in the
tailshaft and
driveline match,
WHAT DIFFERENCE DO THE SPLINES MAKE? ANY DRIVE SHAFT CAN BE MADE IT'S THE
YOKE THAT MUST FIT THE SPLINES AND IT IS REMOVABLE
if you buy a T-10 from a wrecking yard, grab the driveline if possible, you
will need it.
LOT'S O LUCK WHY NOT GET THE FORD TREMEC 5 SPD IT'S A LOT EASIER TO FIND AND
BOLTS UP USING LATE MODEL BELLHOUSINGS
as far as the front brake conversion, Bendix
makes a conversion kit that you can get from a hot rod shop, its a bit
pricey but if its what you wanna do then thats how I would do it, short from
robbing a Monarch of its spindles and things
WOW ALL THESE AMC WITH DISC'S LYING AROUND THAT JUST BOLT UP AND
WE NEED TO PUT FORD PARTS ON AND BUILD ADAPTORS TO MAKE THEM FIT
SORRY I'LL USE THE STOCK BENDIX BRAKES
(sorry Bart :-) ). aside from
that have fun on your car and will talk to you later.
