Wiring Diagrams and Chroming parts

Hey Karla. It's great to see you're helping your husband with his 
Gremlin. My wife is really into our AMCs, too. It makes it much more 
enjoyable when your spouse enjoys them, also.

For a wiring diagram, the best place to get it is from an AMC 
Technical Service Manual (TSM). you can find TSMs on Ebay sometimes 
and there's companies that you can get them from, also. They are year 
specific, so you'd need one for 1974 (I think that was the year of 
your husband's car). Someone may have one they can scan in the wiring 
diagram and e-mail to you, but overall, he should get a TSM as they 
are very helpful when doing things to your car.

As for chroming parts, it's all personal taste. Usually valve covers 
are the first to get done (I say covers as there's 2 if his car is a 
V8 but only 1 if it's a 6 cylinder car). Assuming his car has the 6 
cylinder with the metal valve cover, as opposed to the later plastic 
ones, that could be chromed. If you wanted, you could buy a used 
metal valve cover, have it chromed, then give it to him at Xmas. That 
way, his cover stays on and he doesn't know you have one for him 
until Xmas. 

You can also chrome brackets things like the brackets for the 
alternator and power streering, the shock tower caps, the hood 
hinges, pretty much anything you want. You can buy chrome alternators 
at some places, and aftermarket air cleaners from places like Summit 
(www.summitracing.com) and Jegs (www.jegs.com). It all depends on how 
much chrome you want on the engine. Personal taste type of thing.
