I'll have to check my '74 to see if it has points. I have to unscrew the screws that hold on the cap. Thats one thing I like about my '76. The cap just pops off.

Hmmm, that's interesting. All the 74"s and some of th 73"s I have seen here on the east coast had the motorcraft electronic ignition. I always figured AMC changed over mid yr 73.

Hi Davis, I think AMC had ignition points well past 1973; as the photo is off my 1 owner low miler 74 Hornet Sportabout and it is points as I had to set them. I also have 2 1974 AMXs and a 74 Javelin all points distributors one has to set dwell.

Eddie, great pic, unfortunately it doesn't help him. AMC had electronic ignition in 1974. That sticker just shows spark plug gap as no points after 1973.

initial point gap should be between 31-and 34, correct? its been so long since i set-up points on one of these I've forgotten.
