While not be the best way to do this, I have taken same to high pressure car washes and blown them out with 800psi hose. Take sending unit out and stick wand in there. You can also manuever wand thru fill pipe. Again, not everyone's cup of teat but has worked great for me thru years. Once blown out, when you get it back home, stick flashlight in there to see what you have, don't be a Aggie & use matches though. If you want to put back together and use tank, I recommend a few cans of Siloo first few tanks, also highly recommend two clear (not glass!!!) but clear see thru fuel filters, one from frame box BEFORE fuel pump, the other in front of carb, to catch any specs and residue you might have missed while cleaning it out. Change or inspect after month, especially lower one. If you want to have it professionally done, send tank to Gas Tank Renu, about $350-$400 thry take it apart, clean, seal it inside and out and warranty it. You can find them on my VENDORS list: http://www.planethoustonamx.com/AMC_Vendors/amc_vendors.htm a local radiator shop in your area usually can also repair any pinholes, leaks also, good luck, Eddie Stakes 713.464.8825 eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.planethoustonamx.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rob Rambler" <robrambler@xxxxxxxxx> I recently bought an old Rambler that had been sitting in a garage for about 30 years, I took the gas tank off suspecting there might still be old gas in it, problem is after I drained about 10 gallons of old gas out it has this black crud all over inside the tank, and on the sending unit, whats the best way to get rid of that? thanks ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
