| It has been a brutal summer and still long way to go. You sort of get used
to it. I have ECKO oven thermometers in several of my AMCs...this is one on my
72 Ambassador's dash: taken last year....one in my 74 Javelin hit 155 recently on 98 degree
day...the record was my black/black/black 78 Pacer with limo tint....it hit 171
& 172 degrees inside several times. I baked cookies on dash as a joke and posted some photos on old amc-list
years ago. The cookies were 1/2 cooked but edible & you could see how they
actually cooked, and rose! But you are correct.....heat affects attendance at car shows. It was 111 in
Wichita Falls, TX today, 102 in Dallas, 104 or something like that in OK
City....just....not good car show weather no matter how much Icees, bottled
water, sodas and other refreshments the meet has....just too damned hot. I may add if it is a judged meet.....the ground temp easily 140+ degrees.
So if you a judge, you need something to lay on! If...and when.....I ever redo (it still looks awesome) my 68 Rebel
convertible 'Machine' interior, which originally was a olive color seats (brain
fart by AMC) and I changed it to darker green seats in 1987, (brain fart by me) I will go with lighter seats. It is too damned hot for a
convertible. If I do drive this car (June was HOTTEST June in Houston recorded
history!!!) but if I do drive this car, I take some tortillas, pico de gallo,
queso, as my big ass is the fajitas stuck to the seat when you try to get up
leave some shank!
