I think that grille will sell in the $600/low to $1500/high range. About 6
years ago when I found out the 70 AMX grilles going to be reproduced...I
unloaded mine and they sold for $2100-$3200 each, and NOT on ebay. Granted it
was a gamble as if the repros came out and sucked I screwed myself selling
early. But repros came out and were nice, and selling under $1K.
Same for passenger side round ribber 68-69 mirrors for
Amb/AMX/Jav/Reb....if you had a NOS one 'before' repos came out, that one mirror
commanded $1K-$1.2K....a small price to pay for rare item for concours
restoration...and bigger problem is not many 68-69 AMCs got that pass mirror it
was a accessory. After repros came out and they are nice, and sell for about
$175, if you have a NOS mirror (or grille mentioned above) it's like holding
Enron or AIG stock. The grilles NOS sell for about $1000...while mirror if lucky
or good day can hit $350.
So my comments were that for someone building a concours level car, this is
probably missing piece of puzzle left on it, and only handful of these damned
fragile grilles remain in 2011 NOS. These things used to break at dealership if
close hood too hard or machanic big ass leaned over it to check il, carb or
something....same with 70 AMX grille. You can eat a can of Wolf Brand Chili
& fart & crack those.
But on some items like this grille, sure wished someone would reproduce it,
I do not know Gremlin market...much less demand for it, but when a NOS one pops
up (and you don't see them at any national aMC meets anymores) but when one pops
up it is like tossing bottle of water in middle of Haiti or FEMA card in middle
of New Orleans and can get ugly.
