Every time i see that it makes me mad... there were plenty of good parts left on those vehicles.
I'm not a "tuner" guy, but that is where hot rodding is headed, the world is running out of "typical" hot rods and muscle cars and tho those cars were involved in illegal street racing, they should at least have been parted out, or even re-purposed as police cars. not just plain crushed. I think our feelings might have been different if those were Gremlin X's or Javelins and any other muscle cars.
