I give him credit for probably giving a Rambler a chance that was headed
  to scrapyard.
Sort of like those 50-70 AMCs this past year in the Ed Hooper
  Collection when he passed.
When time came to remove them from property, of
which the deadline was extended not once,
but twice, there were 6 Ramblers
left, some of them two doors, one wagon if I recall, 2 of
the 2 doors would
have made excellent SC/Rambler clones, droids, regardless of
  whatever
wished to drop in them engine wise I guess....but zero interest
  and zero market even at
$200-$400 a vehicle!
I believe this car on
ebay might have been better served with doing what you mention, just
get on
craigslist and pick up cheap 360/727 and toss it in there as opposed to brand
  x.
Hell, he could have gotten this 74 AMX I am parting out, 360/727 for
  $450 for instance,
but AMC 360s cheap and not hard to find....for the time
  being.......that wont always be
case as time goes on.
I don't think
it will sell for $5000 however but never can tell with ebay....but don't

think any bites on this one.
