Re: [BaadAssGremlins] AMC NOS Models

I was turned onto Hobby Heaven in KC by fellow AMC model builder many years ago. I think it was in late 80s. The guy who ran Hobby heaven used to call me up and say 'hey Eddie, I got some cases of AMC stuff coming in, you interested?' and needless to say we would hash out the details and here come the models, of whihc I would toss them in the old warehouse. On my wall here with a thumbtack stuck thru it is a label from their place, I don't think they still in business, but don't know:
Hobby Haven (oops, my bad, thought it was Heaven, but anyplace that has cases of AMCs is heaven)
10568 Metcalf
Overland Park, Kansas, 66212
If they still in business I would like to know, the torn off label on my wall here in office is dusty and yellowed and dated 1992.

I remember hobby heaven in KC!  I spent many an hour there as a kid and many a paper route dollar too!  My folks sold all of my collection at an estate sale years ago.

Hi Doc and somewhere in the auction for the Testor's I mention what you said below. Testors ended up with most of JoHanss molds, cleaned them up and reissued them in a variety of fashions, that prostreet amx being the original Shahan SS/AMX mold. It was also used for another "run" in the early 1990s

I have been trying unsuccessfully for YEARS to get some model makers to reissue anything AMC, especially the 70 Javelin, 70 AMX and 71-74 AMX & Javelin series....to no avail. I have even offered up some of my NOS models to them as mules!

There was a place called Hobby Heaven up in Kansas I used to buy cases of NOS models from, that Testor's AMX I bought 14 cases for instance and while now out of the Pro Street Rambler, bought 10 cases of those also. Ah, those were the days!

Nice group of models there Eddie. To bad there is nothing there I havent built in my collection and have anywhere from1 -3 of each still unbuilt. The Pro/Street AMX is nothing more than a Johan Drag-On-Lady AMX with new box art and decals otherwise it is the same kit. Same thing as the Johan Pro/Street Rambler is an SC/Rambler with new box art and decals. Box artt makes the price as the SC goes for around 50-75$ while the Pro/Street goes for 15$. Tom Jennings from the AMX Files just gave me a sealed SC/Ramber & Drag-On-Lady kit for nothing.
