Hi Rick, that is the CARS magazine Super Javelin buildup, they changed a number of things to that Javelin like AMX hood, sidepipes, intake, AMX grille, gauges in dash to name a few things. The whole article appears in the 1977 AMC Power Book of which you see me hawk on fee-bay, but if anyone here wants a copy of the old AMC Power Book $15.50 shipping included. moreover there was also the Barris AMX that got the weird nose and Breedlove 200 AMX which launched the Javelin roof spoiler, also the El Toro AMX Barris did with pipes out of the hood, and the infamous and my opinion best looking of them all was Droke Brothers Javelins with Olds 442 W30 twin functional hood scoops on Javelin and shorty 1/4 extensions and flatened/shortened trunk lid, that was a great looking kit.

Doc I have a car magazine from the 1968 era that had a project car called "Super Javelin" that they put a AMX hood and grille on it and had it run pretty good with cam-headers-intake-holley etc but it seems to me the magazine was something like Cars. I will see if I can find it sometime.Like you I cant remember it on the cover of either magazine and I have been an AM<C person since the early 70s.Hope someone can remember more. Rick

I have had a Car Craft subscription for the last 25 years and certainly would have remembered if there was ANY AMC on the cover. Never did and also the same with Hot Rod NADA? Only a 2 year loss of subscription since 1970 on Hot Rod and that was from 89-91. Dropped that subscription after the April Fools article a few years back. I couldn't stand another small block Chebby engine or Camaro build up. Told them that when hey called up to try to get me to renew my subscription.
