Somebody donated them a 70 Cadillac and they decided the best use for it would be a demolition derby car. He brought us pictures of the car. While it needed a paint job and the front seat was rough still the car didn't have a dent in it nor did it have any rust on it at all. I told him he was stupid for tearing it up. I just couldn't see good American steel destroyed. Kind of reminds me of a guy I met at a car show a few weeks ago. He had a 96 Mustang GT for sale. He was in his 60's. He said he bought it for his wife when she turned 50 because she wanted a sportier car. The thing had 60,000 miles on it and it looked like it was new. I ask him why he was selling it and it said they had both got
older and just wanted a small car to drive around town. He took it to trade it in and they said they would give him $4500 and it would be a cash for clunkers car. He ask them what they would do with it and they said after putting some chemical in the engine to lock it up they would send it the crusher. He said he just couldn't do it to his car. I couldn't blame him here was a like new classic car going to be crushed. While we might have a love for our automobiles in the United States we don't have much respect for them.
