Re: [BaadAssGremlins] 76 Hornet *FIND* Help me out!

Not sure how often those online price guides are updates upwards or downwards with economy and trends, but here is one

http://www.collectorcarmarket.com/menus/amyrd.htm

two

http://manheimgold.com/

three

http://www.planethoustonamx.com/Shut_Up_Files/amc_price_guide.htm

this one is for Doc, who mentioned years ago he got frustrated on not knowing where sellers were located in the SUADS, so I put up a area code locator:

http://www.fonefinder.net/

and lastly, if you have any large bookstores in your area like Barnes & Nobles, Crown, ect, go pick up a new Old Cars Price Guide about $5 off the stands, good book which is a compilation of prices not only in auctions, but other sources, so you see it rise and fall all the time. Right now in last several years prices suck and I am getting hammered with 'sympathy buys' for instance, those are folks who have lost jobs, or mortgage/homes, ect, and well, need money so selling off toys, and sometimes those toys are AMCs, so while i have been buying some good cars cheap (cheaper than what they were worth 5 or so years ago) still lots of good stuff out there.

If I had more $$$ would pick up this SC/360, one of 19 made, 1 of 5 known to exist with 360/3spd

71 SC/360 Hornet, 1 of 19 3spds, $3400, 406-212-2601

the guy would probably move on it for $2500.....
or the SC/360 drag car

71 SC/360 Hornet, street legal, $4500/offers, 414-881-3833
something you could buy in Kenosha and take down to Crodoba and race that same day.

3 years ago I placed a business card on the windshield of a 2-door Hornet that I saw parked in a driveway. Tonight, the owner called me up and we talked for 45 minutes about AMCs. He is getting old (with health issues) and is considering selling his Hornet. He told me he bought it new in 1976 and has kept it running the whole time. He has had it repainted once (original color) and has just put new tires on it. He said it has electrical problems (headlights won't stay on), but otherwise it runs great. Body is perfect - no rust, original everything. I am thinking of adding another AMC to my small fleet. But if not, I want to help the guy get what he deserves for this very nice original AMC. What does a car like this go for? I plan on looking on the Bay, but I really don't know if that is a good reference. What do you all think?
