The NSRA in the 70's had a Street Machine/Van division. I know because I was a member. There was 1200 cars and vans at the 1977 event in St. Paul Minn. I know because I was one of them. My wife's 2 sisters lived in Minneapolis. So I had a free place to stay. Drove the 1200 miles myself with my wife, her youngest sister, my 8 year old daughter and 18 month old son. All of us stuffed in my yellow Hornet. Car was 3 years old with 30,000 miles on it. It broke down a midnight on Rt#80 somewhere in Bum ~!@#$% Pennsylvania. When the sun came up I fixed the car and was on my way. I ended up with a picture of the car in a collage of pictures at the start of an article about the show in the Nov. 77 issue of Hot Rod Magazine and in the NSRA Street Scene Magazine. I did become a member of a local car club, the Westchester Street Machine Association who were affiliated with the NSRA Street Machine Van division. I ended up holding 2 different club officer positions before the club changed to the Westchester Street and Marine Association. Boats were not my thing so I left. The trip to St. Paul was the trip of a life time for me. I still have the wooden plaque with the picture of my Hornet on it saying "I Drove 1977"
