Hi Paul, if one wants that 'deer in headlights' look from a non red power
ties shirt fellow they can go to local parts stores. Many, for years, will
simply look in computer and see N/A and tell you to quietly move on. Every now
and then one will come across a parts guy that will actually dust off cobwebs
and spiders on those big books at end of counter and actually look to see what
might work or interchange, computer be damned.    Recently at the O'Reillys on Gessner here in Houston, I got some of China's
finest ball joint sleeves for wife's new 88 Eagle. Several problems......one 88
Eagles DON'T EXIST at least in many parts books as Mopar had already bought AMC
and the 2306 Eagles shoved out door in 88 rarely are seen in parts books, and if
so, are called Medallions, Jeep, or Premier. The part number was correct in
computer, but took parts to my mechanic and well, would not work. So went back
and instead of getting the el cheapo $11 ones, I moved up to Moog ones for $22
each and worked great. The guy at the counter, big, young fellow named Van
actually looked in books, and sure enough the parts numbers were wrong in books
also, as was in computer. No way to change it, except he scribbled the right #
in the parts book not that there is another 88 Eagle around. But was nice to see
someone take a moment, even with line of customers, take a moment to see why
this part, listed in computer, would not work.    You mention Coon Brothers. This should interest you off my AMC DEALERSHIP
file on my site:     Coon Brothers was one of the top dealers in 1968. Speaking of which, if one
goes to ebay, every now and then someone up in that area has a original NOS Coon
Brothers AMC decal the dealers used to stick on back of their car, quite neat
for originality purposes whether your car came from there or not, neat to see
dealer decals and emblems on back of AMCs at shows and events.

      | The way to get mopar  # from a amc
         # you have to add a one letter prefix to the nunber . I think it
is a j or a z .This converts amc part #'s to mopar #s. Try calling
snethcamp chrysler dodge in redford mi and ask for parts. The more
experienced  ( older ) guy at the counter told me how they do it.
This dealer was coon brothers rambler/amc for years , down the street
from world hq.. we used to buy all our cars from there.  If you go
to a newer mopar dealer they don't have a clue , they look at you like a
martian for even asking for amc parts. After all , they do wear white
shirts and Red Power Ties at the counter. If you have no luck, let me
know and I'll get of my ass and go out to the garage and dig up a box
and invoice t from the dealer. All the numbers for your car can be
obtained by purchaseing a crash sheet for your car . Got mine an feebay
from a guy in canada. Have one for my 50 dodge also. Can't get by
without it. Hated to part with that secret but everyone on BAG has been
great,  and I have to share.  Good Luck  Paul In

Thanks guys for the advice. -- Hal,I have the Chrysler
numbers and did give one of the two dealers in town a try. The numbers
didn't come up (I didn't think they would, but hey, you never know
your luck) and the guy said they are not real Chrysler numbers !
-- Todd, I know Stu. -- Eddie, good points about shipping
overseas, depends whether the $$ sale is worth the hassle I
suppose. I'll keep trying. Dave --- On Wed,
