As most of you know how cheap I am you will be surprised but I did break down and bought the new tires for the Gremlin over the weekend. It is one of the few times I ever felt a difference when I bought new tires. It just rode and handled better with the new tires. It also felt good knowing I had the new tires on it. With a combination of the old tires and the rear breaks locking up except for short burst of speed I drove 55 on the expressway. Since I fixed the breaks in the spring and now the new tires I drove about 35 miles to a car show Saturday and drove 70 the whole time. It felt good when I gave the 90 year old lady in the 83 LaBaron the finger when I passed her up for driving so slow. She use to do it to me all the time. Seriously on somewhat of a Historic note. I found a receipt in the glove department where my mother paid $184 for a set of radials in 1982 for it. I paid $212 for the ones I put on it. While I am sure that 184 dollars was for good tires back in 82 while I bought the cheapest things I could find still I think that was pretty good that I could put tires on it for 28 dollars more than what was paid for them almost 30 years ago.
