Knowing AMC and most companies I would guess it all depended on what supplier they were using that day. I think you are going to have to fabricate yourself a filler pipe for it. You would want it tight so there won't be any leaks but I doubt if there is any movement there. Now if you don't mind how much did it cost to have all that done to your tank.

Several years ago i had a very nice 74-76(seperate filler neck) tank cleaned/sump welded in for my 73 Gremlin. I just went to look it over and realized..DUH. ..that my 72 and 73 have the filler welded into the tank!! Any helpful advise greatly appreciated! ! Anyone have a spare seperate filler neck? Thanks alot,Joe

The 74-76? tank that i had boiled/sealed/ sumped a few years ago has NO filler neck/has a grommet/rubber seal where a filler fits into the tank? Did i now make that as clear as mud now? Thanks,Joe

In my 73-76 parts manual it shows that they all have the stub filler on the tank? Soooo WHAT year tank did i get a few years ago from the guy out west??? Possibly a 77-78 Gremlin?? The tank has NO filler attached. Has a grommet where a filler enters the tank? Wish i had already sen the difference before having my new tank boiled/sump welded in/sealed!! CRAP!
