I did something last week that I haven't done in 10 years with my Gremlin. I took it to a mechanic. I just don't have much energy to do much more than change oil any more. Last year the rear breaks started to grab on me and I was losing break fluid. This year when I got it out they were grabbing pretty bad. I looked at them and scratched my head. Also the valve cover gasket was leaking pretty bad and I have heard how hard they were to change, needed an alternator belt and I have never figured out how you change one of them so I broke down and took it to the guy who works on my other cars. You guys would like him. He is about 70, plenty of gray hair and works out of his 4 car garage in his back yard surrounded by trophies from his race car days. Anyway when I told him about the Gremlin you could tell he was quite excited that I would let him work on it. I guess it took him back to when he worked on real American steel rather Japanese rice eaters. Any way he replaced both rear wheel cylinders, the valve cover gasket, the belt and a heater hose for a 125 dollars I didn't think that was bad. Next to take it a guy and have it detailed. I met a guy at a car show last year and he said he thinks he can take most of the streaking out my hood. We will see. Terry |
