Not finding an all metal Aouga horn for the Matador I sucked it up and bought the new style with the plastic nose. I bought it from my local non-chain independent auto parts store for the same price I would have paid JC Whitney with the shipping, which was still 25$ less than the local Strauss chain store. Support your local independents or whoever takes the time to find parts for your AMC's. I been dealing with this store for 25 years and this parts counter man for 10+ years. I secretly think he finds it a challenge to find old AMC parts for me and all the other odd parts I have looked for over the years. The car goes in for the windshield leak repair tomorrow. On the mirrors I found a Rambler Mentality solution for later AMC mirrors I wanted. Years ago I bought a box of a dozen or so assorted AMC junk mirrors on eBay. With all that crap I was able to make 2 sets of non remote mirrors for
both of my 74 Hornets. The yellow Hornet had a set of those aftermarket plastic housing mirrors on it at the time. Since I never throw anything away it hit me use them. Since I am quite good with plastic I am going to cut down the plastic housing to simulate AMC mirrors. Materials are almost free as I have a huge stock of this stuff already on hand. About the only thing I will have to buy is can of rattle can maroon to match the car's color. The steering wheel change is still up in the air for now. Spring is in he air and I need to work on a real car instead of being stuck in the house for the last 4 months working on AMC models.
