Guess what? It's coming to Houston. The fellow who stopped by here last week, who lives in Pearland about 20 miles from me bought it. He showed the photos to his body man and his body man said no problem. He also just bought a 71 Gremlin up in Oregon. He is the same fellow if you look thru the archives here I forwarded a '1/4 panel wanted' a few
 weeks ago, as he is restoring (it is totally stipped and on a rotisserie like thing) 71 Gremlin right now, or at least his shop is, he is original owner of that red 71. So sort of neat, but he called me today and mentioned it and even before I had hit send here, he said 'I was the guy who bought it' so I read him my comments. He thinks he will have about $10K into it once put back into shape it was before accident. Not sure why he is picking up a few Gremlins but no one has ever explained to me why I've owned 334 AMCs and still drive them daily!

  I have looked it over as well and I don't think the damage goes to the frame. A piller yes but not frame. I agree it would be alot to pay to have it repaired not for someone wanting to resell it for a profit. More for the doit yourselfer. But I would argue it has way more then 500.00 worth of parts left on that car. How much for a good rust free hood, Fender, pass side door? rear quarters? What is a really nice rear
 spoiler worth nowadays? How bout really nice tail lights? I could go on. Interior parts?

      Yes and no. Looks like someone dropped in a heck of a lot more than high bid
on it...BEFORE it was hit. However, looking at the photos from a variety of
angles this car has frame damage it appears, so someone will spend
$1/5K/CHEAP!
! to $4K/HIGH! to get that driver side front put back together.
It is a lot more than door and fender....you will have to adjust unibody
under there or car will eat up tires for rest of days, and one will have to
line up new door on there, of which even when repaired (been there done that
column) you will have tale-tell gap in the door; whether front, top, bottom,
or even striker area. So I'll say they will have about $3K
 into the
framework alone, not counting paint after body/frame. And then depending on
whether they Maaco it or get a good paint job afterwards, price would be
open checkbook. So yes, someone paid a lot of money for it. I have passed on
AMC with "lesser hits" in police storage and salvage lots here thru years;
this Gremlin would have brought less than $500 at a Houston auction.
