[BaadAssGremlins] Alternator light

Hi BAG members, Anyone have any suggestions as to why the alternator
dash light is showing dimly lit on my 73 "X" if the alternator was
rebuilt about a year ago and I believe the voltage regulator is fine?
The light goes out when I unplug the voltage regulator and I have
swapped in an NOS Filko VR to no avail. The service manual gives one
or two causes for a dim light and a whole laundry list of problems for
one which burns brightly. My car has A/C but the light starts dim as
soon as I fire the car up. Anyone ever solve this problem with one of
your own Gremlins? Any suggestions, my thanks in advance.
   Gary
