Hi Paul, yes got the magazines and some interesting reading. I found it
ironic that one of them Car & Driver, that has never had anything positive
to say about anything AMC, was glowing over the new Eagle series. Even one of
their longtime writers who don't I guess like any cars, said he had been won
over. Strange. But great reading for that era.
What I REALLY found strange....was here is a large circulation
international magazine that was falling over itself about the new Eagle. But I
looked thru the magazine and not one AMC ad. There is a Jeep ad in front, but
not one AMC ad. You would have thought that AMC would have spent some money and
had a full page ad in C&D touting their whole 1980 product line, or at least
their new Eagle.
I also learned about a new club! It is called ASSHOLE! And I need to join!
ASSHOLE is a acromyn for American Select Society Helping Others Less
Enlightened! Someone wrote into C&D and told them abuot this new club in
1980; February 1980 to be exact, and I was cracking up about it. Of course they
were signed anonymous, this was when people used to write letters in the land
before Al Gore invent internet :~P you know.
