| Hi Doc, a way to look at it is the smaller the diecast, the more difficult
to get details. But I think the Hornet hatchback was very nice all things
considered. It was first time a diecast had been made of the hatchback. Not
counting you build em type models or promotionals. But metal. As one gets
larger, easier to get smaller detail right like ERTL or Yat Ming. I guess a case could be made that these are indeed toys, as we played with
them as kids, and well, still do, whether build them or stuff a bottle rocket in
back window and light it to see turbo boost down Hot Wheel tracks! Sorry to hear
you were not happy with them though. Without mentioning corporate names, there
are a few that I wished they had gotten detail a little better. I see millions
of 68-69 AMX diecasts in 1:64th scale with SS/AMX hood scoops for instance!
Change the mold dammmit, you paying some Chineses fellow $6 a week, it is easy
to change! "Eddie the modified Bond Hornet that made the jump is also in the states
and is still owned by the guy that did the stunt. He is also the same guy that
rolled  a Javelin in I believe the Astro Dome." "Doc" This I don't know about with the red Iowa car, but ti was featured in aMO
and Old Cars Weekly years ago, but don't remember if that fellow did the actual
stunt in Thailand. I do remember the networking of getting Corgi hooked up with
Windy City who leaned on him in Iowa to come over for the photo shoot! I wrote a big article about the Astro Spiral Javelins in 1980s, might have
to have it reprinted, would be good fodder for another gen to read I guess. Back
to the hatchbacks, I have enclosed a photo here from the AMC Merchandising Aids
catalog binder. Note the Jo-Han Hornet hatchbacks were sold for $19.50 a dozen
in 1973! Those were the days! Eddie Stakes' Planet Houston AMX 713.464.8825 eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.planethoustonamx.com email reply currently 5-9 days 8-19 day reply times, just call! __._,_.___
