Well last night My son was just comming home as I was beginning to type so I had to run.
My 401 I have been slaveing over every spare moment all summer was broken in on the engine dyno last night. I was working so I called to get an update at 3:30 and it had been broken in was running fine and the inner valve springs were being installed. They run a shop carb to be sure of trouble free breakin period. That carb is a holley 830 cfm. So he called me back at 530 pm and had made a first pull with the timming set at 35 degrees and only brought the revs up to 6000 and it made 520 HP
( my goal was 500) keep in mind it is 10.39:1 compression and running on sonnoco ultra 93 octaine. This was with the indy intake which I had done some port work to the plennum and gasket matched the intake runner ports.
Today I am going over and we will play with different carbs and
try carb spacers and change intakes and swap header sizes. If I have time I will be testing a ported and airgapped torker and I have the Herman Lewis intake that has been port matched to the heads.
