Progress report:
Took right front brakes down to the spindle, Drum looks cutable, will
check with drum measuring tool today. The wheel cyl. was leaking for
years. It cannot be rebuilt. It has metal damage beyond honing. All
brake parts but the springs and self adjuster must be replaced. As
usual, the brake hoses are cracked, and in need of replacement. Left
drum wont come off, I suspect the lining came away from the shoe. Cant
get it off with the tools I have here, will bring a brake adjuster
spoon home tonight, cant get the angle without it.
Found a shot idler arm. No surprise there.
On another note, the torrential downpours we had last night revealed
several leaks in the garage roof. Unfortunately, I do not have the
money to re-roof it, besides there are 3 layers on it now, so ripping
a roof would take me a few days.
I will go up with a few tubes of tar and see if I can lessen the leak.
You know the old addage.. Why fix it, it isnt leaking when its not
raining, but I cant fix it in the rain.
