Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Electric fan

I run Hyundai fans on several of my cars. You can get them at junkyards for
about $5 each. Takes two to cover a Blackstone. I also highly recommend if
your car is a automatic to use a external transmission cooler, you can get
good ones for about $20-$30 at any auto parts store. Not stock, but heat
destroys transmissions, and the original AMC radiotrs with them built in the
bottom really don't keep the trans as cool as is should. If you drive your
AMC as much as I drive all my AMCs, from 401s down to 151 4 banger, it is a
really good, cheap investment to make your transmission last a lot longer. I
guarantee you that the 904 in my 68 Rebel convertible 'Machine' would not
have lasted a fraction of this long if I didn't have it, as under the hood
on a hot Houston day (pick one from March thru October) it can easily exceed
200 degrees under the hood, and higher stuck in traffic. Flip the electric
fan on and watch the temp needles drop to a more comfortable range. I may
add I also run all my cars with no thermostats and have for years, the Rebel
mentioned above now has 128,000 miles on it since engine/trans rebuilt in
1988(?) or 89. Of course I guess it will depend on where you live and the
climate and your personal driving habits, conditions, ect!
