Lu a good upholstery shop is rare. In my area upholstery shops are rare period. 2 in a 20-30 mile radius. One is run by a guy I know who did my seats in the yellow car in the late 70's who I have found out from friends has a drug problem now and cars or parts left there sit for 2-3 months to over a year. The other shop is the place I bought all my supplies from who does excellent work but also does work on high end cars like Porches, Jag's, Benz's and high end dealer car's and big buck 60's and 70's muscle car resto's. I had to wait 6 months till between last Christmas and new years to get the seats done in the orange car. As you can see by the pic's it was well worth the wait and also the price was reasonable. I had the car back in 4 days. I gave him my yellow car the following week and he got busy and he had it for 6 weeks. But I didn't care. The end result was the same, beautiful. As far as the carpet goes. I am not familiar with what AMC used to cover the rear wheel wells on a Gremlin. Both my 74 Hornet's had carpet. I made the complete new carpet for the yellow Hornet, rear wheels and all. It was a pain, but doable. On the orange car I bought the complete molded carpet kit from Kennedy American. Front floor, rear floor, hatch area floor, and the back of the rear seat and the molded wheel wells. Quality of the carpet was real nice but fit was a real pain. I had to cut and trim and hand sew new edge binding to make it fit properly. The molded rear wheel well carpet also needed a lot of trimming and finessing to make it look right. I know it is a pain now but you have to look at the big picture. The end result will be well worth the effort. Hang in there Lu. "Doc" Yahoo!
