Re: [BaadAssGremlins] re: vacuum lines (was crap for swapping V8)

I eliminated the vacuum valve in the water jacket in the block on the
drivers side. I get ported vacuum off the carb for the vacuum advance on
the distributor. I eliminated the charcoal canister and all it's lines
back to the roll over valve near the gas tank. From the roll over valve
I made a fuel tank vent line like the 60's Americans had to the
atmosphere near the license plate on my orange car. I did this to the
yellow car 30 years ago. Other than body or interior parts I get all my
mechanical parts from the local non-chain auto parts store. The only
items they were not able to get was the fuel tank sender and a brake
booster in the last 10 years. They also have the mental capacity to turn
the pages on a paper parts book and cross reference parts that are not
on a computer screen. There are basically only 2 things needed to keep
an old AMC running and that is a good knowledge of mechanic's or a good
old time mechanic and a competent parts man. Fortunately for me I am the
mechanic and also have a young but competent mechanic to do the work I
can no longer do myself and have the parts man too. :-)

My charcoal bucket has a line going to the carb.

photo 596 shows back on intake, note little vacuum modulator with no hoses
to it, this might be one of the things you mention with hoses. It is not to
the round thing but directly in front of the big hose, barely seen.
photo 597 shows a worthless piece of shit thing on the side of the block
which used to have 3-4 vac lines. This is on the driver side of the engine,
you can see the back of the altenator in front of photo.
photo 598 shows your black bucket thing, which is a charcoal bucket for
emissions. This outlived it's usefulness in the Reagan administration.
Again, nothing attached to it.
Hope some of these photos help, especially that taco helped me. If you need
a NOS AMC jalapeno I have a special on them
