CJ I have kepted my mouth shut on this subject except for once. I have been criticized off list for some of my posts here, but being a mechanic for 40 years and don't know your age or mechanical abilities I think you should find a competent mechanic who is going to fix your problems and not just take your money!!! My 74 258 straight 6 with a few mods runs just fine with out all the pollution vacuum crap removed. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo! 11 in the 1/4 hells bells that's what im talkin about. Devacuuming would that be costly? That big ole vacuum pump that looks like a big ole coffee can has got to go, but the lines from the block (2) where would they go? or do I block them off? I also noticed the cadillac converter is gone. That's what I call it. You make it sound easy, but there is so many lines going to the carb. How she gunna breath?
Eddie Stakes <eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Something to consider is simply getting rid of all the vacuum lines, desmogging/devacuuming it if you will, I have done it on dozens of my six cylinder cars and what a difference it makes with lots of extra pickup and get go. As for a six, somewhere on here is Ed Fernandez Gremlin with a six which runns 11 second 1/4 miles times, putting away 90% of the V8s it went up against. That is something else to consider. With the sheer numbers of Jeepers out there, there are al sorts of performance parts for the 232, 258 and Mexican 282 six cylinder.Eddie Stakes'

It has a lne from the bottom of the block, a line from the top of the block, three more lines from the carb not including the line from the rotor cap and the fuel line. and if one is off your screwed.
