For what it's worth, I have Michelin X radials, size 205-70R14 tires on my 1973 Gremlin. Bought at Sam's Club for about $80 each, if I remember right. Pretty good ride and handling. I run 32 psi front and 28 psi rear, and the fronts always look like they are going flat, but that is with a V-8 and factory air, so there is a lot of weight on those front wheels.
I heard from a friend that it was getting hard to find 14" tires. He has a '58 Imperial, a big heavy car. Also, I can no longer find the skinny 195-80R15 tires that came standard on the Eagles, but 205s seem to work OK. I use Goodyear Allegra 205-75R15 on my Eagles. About $45 each at Sam's Club.
