Well Charles I will answer your post. First I find it a little funny since in 1970 when Gremlins came out they were economy cars and you are thinking thinking about getting rid of yours because of the gas mileage. If I remember right yours is the silver 77 with the six in it. If you are only getting 7 miles to a gallon something is bad wrong with the car. While I never found my Gremlins to be that great on gas it should be getting at least 15 to 20 around town. I would say you either have a very bad carb., the timing is way off, the plugs are burnt up, your distributor cap is burnt up or you got a gas leak somewhere. You have to have black smoke coming out the tail pipe. I find it hard to believe it is running very well. I think you need to have it check out by someone. As for as gas mileage all cars besides SUV's and the like made in the last 10 years should get over 20 and most of your econo boxes should get 30+. As for as price 5K is for ones in mint condition. Most of them are better than they were new. For 3K or so you should get one hell of a nice one. Ones like mine which is decent but a long way from perfect 1,500 is about right. While I know some people use their Grems and AMC for daily drivers I would say most of people are like me. My Gremlin is my pride and joy. Something to ride around in on the weekend and to take to car shows. Ok gang correct ever thing I said that was wrong. Terry Yahoo!
