Finally all the plastic repairs are done on the grill, and all of my plexiglass re-enforcements are glued in with JB Weld, the 2 part epoxy The Plastic Welding System and plain old Super glue Gel. What a pain of a job but necessary to make sure it will not crack again in my life time. It took about 35-40 hours to do the repairs. It is now screwed back into the wooden Jig I made and the final sanding has begun. The jig took about 5-6 hours to make too. It was immediately evident to me that making the jig to hold the grill was a good idea as it was much easier to hold while sanding and not having to worry about damaging it. I know to most of you all this must seem like this is over kill and unnecessary work but I am a pain when it comes to doing somthing the right way the first time. I have 8 hours worth of sanding with 320# paper in the last 2 days and I barely made a dent in the sanding. I am removing all the old silver and flat black paint. 2-3 hours a day for a week and maybe I will be ready to start painting. Too bad I didn't have a tank that it would fit into filled with Castrol Super Clean, that would have stripped off all the old paint and all I would have to do is scuff the grill for painting. One thing that may slow me down is that the wife is off all this week for vacation. :-(~~~ "Doc" Yahoo!
