I seriously don't think replacing the fuel pump will cure the fuel draining out of your carb but it is a shot. They are cheap and easy to install on a 6 cyl. Are you sure you have all the tail pipe hangers on the car? Somethings wrong if you have to weld the muffler to the pipes. "Doc" Yahoo! ok my muffler fell off for the second time last week, so i put it back on and had my neighbor weld it for me, so hopefully problem solved, i did notice that the inside of the tail pipe is black, does this mean its running rich? also if so and i adjust the carb, would the black burn off from the tailpipe after awhile? im about to buy some shocks from advance for my car as there shot and i mean SHOT, man i hit a small bump the car lets ya know it lol, anyway those will be going on as soon as i get my fedral refund check as well as a new fuel pump will be put on, hopefully that will fix the fuel draining out of carb problem, but well see lol
