or more specific:
Only 360 you could get in 1977 was in Matador
series, not anything else.
The
K046xxx (no need to be secretive here) is
Kenosha (for K) and your six digit sequence
number
The 7703-7 is
model, body and appointment group
In this case it is
77=1977
03=2door hatchback
7=standard appointment group

The trim number is next at 7110
the 7 is 1977
the 1 should be hatchback/hornet
the 1 should be vinyl (I am doing this from memory
sorry)
the 0 should be buckets....possibly spilt
bench....would have to check

The 6P is Firecracker Red (learn more here off my
site)

The E847xxx (again no one gives a shit here, no
need to be all mystery, put the whole numbers up!) but this is your build
sequence number.
The E is Kenosha East Line. The remaining numbers
is the production line number of the vehicle in which it was built. See metel
door tag link above off my site for more info.

Have fun with it. Want a copy of this factory photo
above it is $9 + $2.50 shipping in shameless plug.

  CANADIAN CAR!?

  Hi
I would like to ask a question about a 2 door It looks Hornet I just
purchased today. The car is currently a 360 4spd car.It has flares and back
louvers. It looks like an AMX would look. However I cant decipher all the
numbers on the car.The VIN is A7C037C10xxxx. I understand that to be a hornet
hatchback with a 258 auto ( I think). The rest of the numbers on door, I am
having a hard time with. They are
  K046xxx.............7703-7...........7110........6P..........E847xxx
  What do they mean? thanks....eddie

Your car is a early build, Oct/1969-mid Nov/69.
Unusual is that it is a plain jane as most plain jane anything AMC
usually........and sadly......gets cannibalized for other cars. So seldom
see stuf on showfileds like a base six Javelin. Take time to look at them,
they are more important from a historical aspect than say a 343 loaded
Javelin. You sure say gently a lot Bill, got me a little worried about you.
Most of us would have used the $1.00 store chisle and sledge to remove it,
then hold it up in the air like record trout!

Eddie, THANKS FOR THE LINK!! EXCELLENT!! Now I have some idea of what
and where this car came from. I really appreciate your time and efforts!
Let ya all know the ins and outs of this car. Heres the vin.....
A0S060A137127.... From what I can decifer, this was an American made
car shipped to Canada. Year 1970 Three speed manual, Base model, 2dr
sedan, 232 inline 6. Just your plain jain Hornet. I do believe that the
c/c was not a dealer installed option and it was genlty removed from the
car the other day. All parts where saved and gently wrapped in a cloth
sheet and stored in a box with a few moth balls for storage. If I do find
out that it was a dealer installed option, at least I will still have it
and it will be in the shape that it was in when pulled from the car.
Thanks again for all the tips and help I get from everyone here. Bill Id.

Bill the Canadian AMCs were built in
Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Later, Bramalea. But yours originated in
Brampton. Here is more about the VIN:

Speaking (no pun intended) on occasion you
see the AMC Canadian FRENCH AMC color catalogs. Yes, I can hear
Bart spitting his burrito across the room now thinking of
LA GREMLIN LA JOIE DE VIVRE A BON
        MARCHE!

Go do a search on www.ebay.com for 'amc french' and check
out the brochures. Something, you, even Doc, who have Canadian built
AMCs could add too your collection. Great to put on your seat or dash as
shows and watch people freak out. Good way to meet French Canadian
chicks too,  most of them have all their teeth, and they like
        AMC!

Thanks John but I do believe that it is staying where it has been

Sounds to me like dealer crusie. Very rare
            item. If you do
remove it, cut NOTHING. Remove it slowly and
            carefully, and
gather all the components together, then toss
            them on eBay
and see what happens. :)

            [BaadAssGremlins] Dealer installed C/C!? CANADIAN
            CAR!?
F.L.B.T.?? ARRRGGG!!
I got to messin' around
with my Hornet yesterday, and before I do my
Homer impression,
and do sumfin' really stoopid, I was wondering if
anyone here
could give me some info on this car. This c/c has got me
just
stumped and before I go cuttin' and a yankin' stuff out. I would

like to know if this c/c would or could be a dealer
            installed/option
accesory. Come to find out this c/c doesnt look
            like, after all, an
aftermarket item. It has brackets that mount
            to the carb, that look
like a factory or dealer installed item.
            The vacume "box" that runs
the c/c, on the p/s inner fender look
like its been there for the
life of the car The "funny little
blue thingy" which I now will refer
to it as F.L.B.T. on the
intake manifold, which I have never seen
before, which has its
own supply of vacume, off of the intake, which
has a vacume line
that comes from the distributor. The vacume
advance, which has 2
vacume lines(never seen that before either) one
goes to the carb
as normal(vacume spark as normal) and one goes to
the F.L.B.T.
When the car runs(which is really good) the F.L.T.B.
makes a
funny little "clicking" sound. The F.L.T.B. has a vacume line

that goes to the "box" for the c/c. The car came with the
            original
owners manual and it states that there was a
            dealer/option installed
c/c. Could this c/c be a dealer
installed option? I thought that the
car would of came from the
local AMC dealer in Moscow Id. On the back
of the owners manual
someone had wrote where the car and what dealer
the car came
from. It came from a dealer in Calgary Canada.
CANADA!!?? Why
would someone buy a car in Canada and bring it to the
States? Is
that, or was that a common practice? I need a sevice
manual and
my "cherished" clymer or chilton or what ever it is only
goes
back to 71 and has nothing about a c/c. I know that I have alot

of questions and I hope that I didnt confuzz anyone here more
            than
what I am already. Anyone who can, once again, point me in
            the
direction of a service manual for a 1970 AMC Hornet, and
            maybe give
me some idea on the c/c and the Canadian thing. I
            really dont want to
do anything to the car, and do the Homer
            Simpson thing, like, tear
stuff out that maybe very rare and
very hard to find and then........
D-OH!  Bill "confused in
            Northern Idaho" LOL!!
