For those with bucks some one makes new 9" rears to the specks you want.
I can't think of the company's name off hand. CRS :-)

Subject: [BaadAssGremlins] REL: wanted 9" ford rear/v8crossmember.
IF...you can find a 1957-59 FORD passenger car.....NOT a station wagon
or a Ranchero...the 9" rearend housing will bolt right in a
Gremlin/Hornet/Spirit...etc. First year the 9" was produced was 1957!
There is only about 1/4"-1/2" difference in the spring pad spacing.
Either pull the springs abit in the bushing...or elongate the pad holes
a very small amount....as i did.Actually the total overall rearend
width (wheel mount flange to wheel mount flange)is about 1/4"
narrower.....so it makes for added tire space. I have one of these
exact rearends in my 72 Gremlin...along with a 3.70 gear with a posi
unit.I've used that exact rear housing in several auto's over the
years. Getting HARD to find one at times...since the coupe/street
rodders discovered them also!!!! Hope this helps,Joe
