There now will be both Gremlin AND Pacer diecasts soon showing up on our shores, courtesy of China. Motor Max, a diecast maker, but not known for truly high quality stuff, is coming out with (well, already has!) a 1/24th metal Gremlin. Already seen 5 on Ebay since last week. I got in contact with a Motor Max company rep after a hunt on the Internet, who says these are hot items and they're stocking up now. I also found out by accident this past week, some new small-scale Motor max cars at Wal- mart, on the shelf now, called Fresh Cherries, in plastic blister packs, next to the Matchbox cars. So far, '77 Mustang II, '70 Pinto ( doesn't exist ), and '70 Maverick. But on the back of the package, I saw it also said AMC , registered trademark of DaimlerChrysler...whoa! So I mentioned this in an email to Mr. Chan, the rep, and his response was that they are making both Gremlin and Pacer 1/64th diecasts for the Fresh Cherries series <BIG GRIN>. Also, they are making a 1/16th scale Pacer R/C model! Now,assuming that Wal-mart is already selling the Cherries, and they love selling stuff from China, I would "assume" that they will probably be selling the R/C Pacers as well, but I didn't ask the rep, and he didn't tell me that. So you'll have to start looking, and wait for any updates I get. Mr. Chan said probably end of April, but he was surprised that the Cherries were already in Wal-mart. So, I'm not sure if he's a direct company distributor, or what, I thought so, but apparently they're out there faster than he thought. Motor Max vehicles, the 1/24th size, come in blue and yellow boxes. The Cherries are in a green and red rounded blister package, due to the cherry shape of the picture. I have found no local carrier of the 1/24th, Mr. Chan said he'd find me a local distributor if I didn't want to buy wholesale from him ( $500 minimum order ), but I may do that, and take the cars to Cecil County All-AMC day in Maryland. I'll have to find out the schedule of shipments, to see if they can make that date ( June? ). Should be able to. So, I'm thinking about becoming a Vendor. LOL. Anyway, thought you people might appreciate a "look into the crystal ball" to let you know what's in store ( or not yet ) for future AMC die casts. Start checking Wal-marts! I have no idea when the AMC cars will hit, but the Fords are there now, so AMCs shouldn't be too far behind, a few months at most. Stay tuned! Jerry Casper syked! Yahoo!
