Something I might comment on is that chances are everyone remembers the
ERTL AMXs when they first came out. People were fighting over them like FEMA
cards in Biloxi. I watched some BBG ones sell for almost $400. However for those
who waited and were patient, now you can round out your collection with them for
$20-$40 each, the high end ones are some of the 'special releases' like the Toys
R Us ones in Copper, Tan, and Pink, and of course those with low numbers like
Pete's Patriot, but hell, I can find those at local swap meets for $20-$30
anyhows.
But yes, chances are this place is possibly a importer, so they got some of
these first. I mention this as it is how I get cases sometimes from JL on AMCs,
and depending on what they are, some I will open up and dump 10 of them on ebay
quickly.....lwtting people know they won't find them anywhere else (but I also
don't mention if they are patient and wait a month they will find them) but some
do indeed have to have the firsr run, and pay for it, as mentioned, supply and
demand.
Back to the ERTLs.....those AMXs, the first run of them, in Green, White
and Big Bad Blue were all over Target, K-Mart, Wal Mart and other fine stores
when they first came out, about $24. A year later....several toy discounters
here in Houston had shelves of them for $9 each. So I bought some cases of them
of which still have up in attic for my boys when they get older I guess.
Suggestion? Be patient. Like those JL Gremlins (of which I saw someone bid
one up to $65 for) your patience will usually be rewarded!
