I thought the only reason they said you had to drive them into the show was to
make sure they were real cars. I went to a commercial car show today at the
local fairgrounds and I would bet money that some of those cars don't run.
They had chrome everything and the insides of the exhaust pipes were even
clean. Now this would be a problem with mine too Doc. If it is a hot and rainy
summer mine won't get 750 mile put on it. Now if it is a nice summer it could
get maybe a 1000 on it. Still even if I have it painted you are going to tell
it is a driver. I guess I will just put it in the non stock class. I don't
expect to win anything. I would put in it the display only class but according
to the pictures I saw of last years they were put an area my themselves. I
want to be with the other Gremlins.

Thanks DOC. Before I comment on that let me say I take my hat off to you also. Thanks for all your help on the car. I have gone back to last year and printed all of you insightfull and helpfull emails so I have the info as reference. I have stuff from restoring sill plates, to what parts fit what.. As far as driver class goes I thought it was rather strange. I have been drivig to shows since the 70's, no matter where they are. Iv'e also been going to ride in shows with my Harleys for a loong time. If you go around behind some of the local bars and businesses thats where you find all the trailers that the "ride in show bike came on". I live in Michigan and we all have a good laugh with the reacuring joke when we're a few hundred miles from home and see a Touring Bike on a trailer, some one allways sez, "check it out, that guy trailered all the way from MICHIGAN". I don't think it matters how many mile you do as long as they're not trailored. MY stuff stays detailed, you just have to know how and stay on top of it. People ask if my vehicles have ever been dirty when they see em. Lol . Ttry drivin, or worse yet, riding 1,000 miles in the rain and then having to get ready for a show next to the trailer Queen. On another note, I still haven't bought those scuff plates. I'm spending the weekend to see if I have an alternative. I've got 2 kids in college and you know the whole routine as your a dad also. Being retired/disabled and owning 3 cars and the only driver of them
none of them gets the required mileage. My 77 Malibu beater barely got
400 miles last year and about maybe 50 this year so far not that that
car counts. All the rest of the time I use both my Hornet's. The yellow
one might have qualified for the mileage rule last year as my orange
Hornet was at my friends shop for 11 months. When there is no snow or
salt on the roads I use both Hornet's when ever I go out. Mostly the
orange one now as I am still working on it or having it worked on at my
friends shop from time to time. There has got to be a better way to
determine if a car is a driver or a hidden trailer queen. I have seen
people park the trailer a few blocks away and then drive the car to a
show or cruise night. All you have to do is look at the car to tell if
it is a driver or a trailer queen. My orange car will be real nice when
done but you can see it is a driver. Since it was polished out people
swear it has been repainted but you can see a small amount of road rash
on the tips of the front fenders and hood along with a few small dings
and dents here and there. The silver paint on the grill is worn off in
spots but that is going to be fixed shortly. Even with all my fixing of
the dings and dents and detailing you can see it is a driver. The only
thing that looks like a show car is the completely new interior and it
should look like a show car for all the time and the 3,500$-4,000$ I
spent on it.
