Rod, I performed this task on one of my non-AMC cars with the engine in and took it to bare metal. Started using those 3M paint stripping disks - what a mess and way too much work. Changed to a non-toxic paint stripper that you can get at Home Depot or Lowes, which worked great. Used spray paint to repaint, worked well. Eastwood has a wide variety of part-specific paints to make everything look just right. Only mishap I had was using a degreaser to clean the outside of the oil pan as I was painting the engine too. Degreaser ran onto my arm which resulted in a chemical burn similar to a sunburn. I'd use Simple Green next time. Good luck, it makes a big difference. Dave ------------------------ Yahoo!
