Rod,

 Make sure you build the cage correct if you ever plan to race it. The cross bar must be in a certain spot, this is why I mentioned hinging and pinning it. Check with NHRA rules or call their tech on that I know putting a bar lower will not fly at the track.

 But that's no reason you can't make a few "changes" You can hide the fact that it is removable with the roll bar padding when you go to the track!
