The tranny is from my stock 304 gremlin.  I have alwaysd thought it 
was a 998??????  I got that info from Donnies Site.  www.gremlinx.com

My car was a factory v8 car. soooo. its a 904?

I know what your saying with the 727.  I may go with that or buy a 
adapter and use a built th400 that I can get cheap.  I have been 
looking for a Amc Belled 727 but havent had luck.
