Hey Brad you got a fuel gauge problem on your wagon? The fuel gauge problem on my yellow Hornet was simple to fix when I put it back on the road 7 years ago. It was the fuel tank sender. Not cheap but I got a NOS one from Kennedy American for around 80$ I think back then. First thing to check is to see if the ground on the sender to the chassis is good. Usually the connection on the sender corrodes away. Next an easy way to check if the sender is good is to ground the power side of the sender to the chassis with the ignition key on. If the gauge goes past the full mark off the scale the sender is good and all the wiring from the gauge back. Most original 30+ year old senders are shot. My problem as with these tests on the orange Hornet say's the sender (an NOS one) and wiring from the gauge back is good. With the dash apart I will now start to trouble shoot the gauge itself and associated wiring to the gauge. With a 3,000$ new interior I am not carrying a 3'--3/8" wooden dowel marked so I can stick the tank to see how much fuel is in the tank. Oh I also have brand new later 22 gallon tanks in both cars. When I find the solution I will post it here. Since the temp gauge works fine that means that the inst. gauge regulator on the back of the gauge printed board is still good. It works both the fuel and temp gauge. "Doc" ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Get fast access to your favorite Yahoo! Groups.
