Gary-- that's a great idea -- I can keep my dead Neil
Diamond tape on the front seat for effect.  :)

Actually, I have most of my former 8-Tracks now in
digital form on my ipod, and that's usually what I use
to rock out to while driving the Gremlin.

Just two years ago I removed the 8-Trac player I had
installed in my 
Gremlin in 1973. The reason was not the 8-Trac player
as it worked fine, 
but the 8-Trac tapes themselves. No matter how clean
you get the player 
unit the tapes are going to get 'eatin up' because of
the way the 
8-Trac tapes were manufactured. Don't risk any more
tapes. Just leave them 
on the front seat so people will think your using them
and put a hidden 
CD player somewhere else so you don't screw up Neil
