That photo also appears in the salesmans catalogs too. On the drainage 
possible problem, I don't believe this was a concern to AMC. Drainage 
problems existed with a number of models, the 68-70 AMX and Javelin 1/4 
panels come to mind, also the rain drains on either side of lower windshield 
come to mind too, those cars had not even been loaded in Milwaukee and those 
smal q-tip sized holes had already filled with dust, effectively clogging 
them. I could go on a number of other vehicles here too, like any Cassini or 
Barcelona Matador coupe, which had those heavily padded roofs!

The padded roof on the Matty coupes is about one inch thick. If any of you 
ever get to look at one of these copues close up, check out the roof, it is 
like a monster sponge on the roof.
