| Dan, If you pull it off, you will find that it consist of a thin layer
of aluminum plus a plastic underlay. I discovered this when I removed it
from a spare instrument cluster. The plastic underlay will make an
excellent pattern. Several years ago, I had my brother run a couple of pieces of board through
a planer (in his high school wood-shop class) until it was about an eighth of an
inch thick. I cut the pieces to fit the dash of my Gremlin then stained them.
They didn't look too bad. Right now, I'm working on pieces for a Hornet
cluster to put in my Gremlin. This time, I'm cutting the pieces out of a walnut
veneer I bought at a local home improvement center. It is about the same
thickness as the factory aluminum. The pieces are cut and ready to
stain a cherry color. When I get a piece finished, I'll post a
photo.  You may want to consider making your own. I don't know of anyone that makes
the pieces and they may be a rare find. Good luck and let use know what you
do. Rick  Yahoo! Groups Links
